SoundPEATS Q12 Bluetooth Headphones Review

soundpeats-q12-review

Rating: 4/5

What I Like:

  • Great overall sound with heavy bass that does not overpower the treble and mid tones
  • The in-line buttons are easy to find and press compared to other in line buttons I’ve tested before
  • The headphone cables feel strong when pulled and flexed
  • Comfortable to wear
  • Battery life is acceptable

What I Don’t Like:

  • The pieces that hold the headphones into the ears are not strong enough

Summary:  These Q12’s are some of the better performing budget Bluetooth headphones I’ve reviewed, with more bass than competing models. The best part is, even with more bass the treble comes through crisp and clear, striking a good balance between high and low tones. When combined with the decent build quality and battery life, these headphones make it onto my recommendation list.

Huion H610 Graphics Tablet Review

huion-h610-review-1

40

Rating: 4/5

What I Like:

  • Accurate pen strokes
  • Great pen pressure
  • Feels similar to a Wacom Intuos Pro in texture
  • Pen takes standard AAA batteries
  • Cable is user replaceable

What I Don’t Like:

  • Surface of my tablet wasn’t entirely flat
  • Difficult to install drivers correctly

Conclusion:  I’ve drawn with a half dozen graphics tablets and I can say the Huion H610 is among the better I’ve used. The pen pressure works great, with decent weight variation. The tablet has a modestly rough texture to it, not exactly like drawing on paper but not smooth either. It reminds me of drawing on my old Wacom Intuos 2 in terms of handling – and that’s a good thing. The only parts that were difficult was the driver install. To get pen pressure working in Photoshop I needed to uninstall all the tablet drivers already on my computer. As well, my copy of this tablet isn’t entirely flat and if placed on a table it wobbles. That being said, I tend to hold my tablet in my hands, so for me this isn’t a big deal, but for those who draw on a flat table it might be a concern. Overall, 4/5 because it feels great to draw on, but doesn’t sit exactly flat.

GGMM Alauda In-Ear Headphones Review

Rating: 4/5

What I Like:

  • Balanced sound profile with a clear mids and highs
  • Ability to equalize these headphones without too much quality loss
  • Tiny size
  • Comfortable fit
  • Tangle free cord
  • Durable build quality

What I Don’t Like:

  • Treble has a bit of ‘sparkle’ and is too accentuated at times
  • Included ‘sport’ ear tips are pretty but somewhat useless

Summary:  The GGMM Alauda headphones strike a good balance between audio quality, size and comfort. These headphones will be particularly enjoyed by those who prefer a flatter and more balanced sound profile as they are weighted a bit towards treble. That’s not to say they completely forgo the bass though – what’s there is detailed and can be punchy. They are comfortable, look good and sound good too.

QCY QY8 Bluetooth Headphones Review

Rating: 4.5/5

What I Like:

  • Excellent overall audio quality, with balanced low, mids and highs
  • Buttons feel good to use
  • Acceptable build quality
  • Handsome design
  • Comfortable fit
  • Decent battery life
  • Consistent signal

What I Don’t Like:

  • Included rubber tips do not feel very good quality
  • The part that holds the headphones to the ears is not very strong

Summary:  These headphones sound far better than they should given the price, and even outperform my previous favorite headphones audio quality wise. They improve on the audio balance, providing a more even mix of treble and bass. The only thing I don’t like about them is the little rubber bits that grip onto my ears: they’re made a thin and cheaper material and don’t do much. I ended up stealing the ones from my Mpow Swift and constructing what would be (to me) the best Bluetooth headphones I have ever found. Pictured above is the QCY headphones with the Swift ear inserts (I forgot to take them off before snapping the pics, sorry!). Even with the cheap rubber pieces they do stay in ear fine. I would recommend these headphones for those who like balanced audio with a good mix of bass and treble.
